ABOUT THE SITE:
The information on this site was taken from the Waterloo Community School's Oregon Trail Benchmark and from the web sites below. The site was designed to coincide with the Benchmark for 5th grade students at Lincoln Elementary School in the Waterloo district. The web site information could be changed based on the level of the student with which you are working, or may be used as is with variations to the activities. You need to have The Oregon Trail CD-ROM game for students to play during this activity as well. The directions to the student state that they are to ask where the game is located so they will be able to play.
ABOUT THE JOURNAL:
The journal in this unit consists of the Benchmark sheets provided by the district as well as a pre-made journal for use throughout the quest. I would recommend for younger students, that the journal be prepared for them prior to the start of the unit with fill in the blank type answers. All the necessary comparing charts should be pre-made as well, so the students do not waste valuable time trying to create their own.
